JAYSON'S 2000 VACATION
Oregon, California, and Nevada

Using my own car this time, I took a five-day, four night road trip covering southern and central Oregon, northern California, and western Nevada.

I headed south down Interstate 5 through Cottage Grove, Roseburg and Winston before heading toward the southern Oregon coast visiting Coos Bay, Gold Beach and Brookings.  I continued southward down the northern California coast into Crescent City, Eureka and the Redwoods National Park.

From there I approached the Napa Valley region through Ukiah, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Sausalito.  I spent a night in downtown San Francisco (the traffic is horrible).  I drove around the bay area, down the peninsula, stopping briefly in San Jose, back north through Pleasanton, before going over the coast range.  I made it into the the valley driving through Tracy, Manteca and Stockton before stopping in Sacramento. The temperatures ranged from the 90s on the coast to over 100 in the valley.  After visting downtown and the state capitol in Sacramento, I picked up a few things at the outlet mall in Folsom and grabbed something to eat in Placerville before going over the Sierra Nevada mountains.  I saw Lake Tahoe.  The casinos in Lake Tahoe sit right on the Nevada state line.

After spending the night Carson City, I continued in Nevada stopping in Virginia City and Reno (holding a Harley convention), before heading back into California.  I noticed there were hundreds of people riding Harley Davidson motorcycles from south of Reno all the way west of Susanville. I went through Susanville, Red Bluff, Redding, Weed and Yreka before going back into Oregon.  The trip concluded in southern and central Oregon covering the communities of Ashland, Klamath Falls, Bend and Madras.
