OK,
here is my lame, boring life story. It's not really all that exciting.
My name is Jayson Dodge, and I was born October 1970 in Southern California.
After spending the first seven years of my life in the Los Angeles area,
I moved with my parents to the Pacific Northwest (just outside of Portland,
Oregon) becoming a southern Washington resident for the next 25 years. In
September 2002, I purchased a condominium in Gresham, Oregon (east of Portland)
where I currently reside.
An average student in school, my strongest subjects were math and spelling.
In high school, interests have switched to computers and shop classes.
After struggling in college, I succeeded with a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Portland State University majoring in history. Previous majors included business,
writing, communications, education and English as well as a minor in psychology.
While
in college, I wrote articles for my school's student newspaper and later
produced, filmed and edited television programs for a local public access
facility as an amateur video producer. Since college, I worked as a temp
through a staffing agency. I then worked in warehouses for three years.
I now work for a financial institution servicing commercial loans after spending
a year as a debt collector.
Now
comes the geeky stuff. My interest in computers dates back to high school
when my parents bought me a Commodore 64 home computer. I learned some BASIC
programming with it but also used it to write term papers and play video
games, particularly Pac-Man. I later learned how to use a PC during my senior
year in high school. By college, I was learning DOS, WordPerfect, Lotus
1-2-3 and dBase as well as using the Apple Macintosh computers. From there,
I was experiencing Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel,
Access and Powerpoint (which everyone in America knows by now). My first
taste of the internet in 1997 when I looked for information at a local library.
A year later, I decided to establish my own web site (which later evolved
into this site - jaysononline.com). In February 1999, I established a
second site, this time on alumni from my old high school. I currently have
several years of HTML experience, and I'm starting to learn Java, JavaScript
and Flash. There are several possibilities for future web site projects although
I have not decided what I want to do next. It just depends on the time,
mood and ideas coming off the top of my head (before somebody else does).
:-)
Besides
my lifelong hobbies of drawing and playing video games, I love to travel.
I like taking road trips across the North America and possibly travel overseas
when I retire in about 30-40 years. I also like movies, the beach, the outdoors,
museums, sporting events, and the occasional dining out - the usual stuff.
I also like animals and had at least one pet at some course during my childhood
(see Pets page). Currently I do not have any pets but would like to soon.
I do not smoke, and I rarely drink. I am currently single, have never
been married and do not have any children. My future ambition is to write
a screenplay or two. More about myself is coming soon. If you have any
more questions about me, feel free to email me at jayson@jaysononline.com.
